Human Protein C Inactivated Purified from Innovative Research has been produced by Activated Protein C that was inactivated using PPACK, Dihydrochloride that was removed by gel filtration following inactivation. This is a frozen liquid buffered in : 20 mM Tris-HCl/ 0.1 M NaCl/ pH 7.4, with a concentration of 0.7mg/ml.
Also known as Factor XIV, Protein C is a zymogen that, when activated, helps to regulate anticoagulation, inflammation, and more. Key to this process is the ability of Activated Protein C (in conjunction with cofactors) to inactivate Factor Va and Factor VIIIa. Protein C is activated by Thrombin, and can be down-regulated by reduction in EPCR and/or thrombomodulin (either of which can be triggered by inflammatory cytokines) and may be up-regulated by Platelet Factor 4. Protein C is inhibited by Protein C Inhibitor.
