Bovine Factor V/Va Purified from Innovative Research has been purified from bovine plasma using salt precipitations and column chromatography. This is a frozen liquid buffered in 20 mM HEPES-HCl/0.15 M NaCl/pH 7.4/50% glycerol, with a concentration of 7mg/ml and is a mixture of Factor V/Va as well as intermediate activation products, as determined by 4-20% gradient gels. This product functions as a source of Factor V/Va in the prothrominase complex.
Factor V is a cofactor (and not enzymatically active). Factor V binds to activated platelets and is activated by thrombin. When activated, Factor Va contains two chains (heavy and light) and is a cofactor of prothrombinase complex. Factor Va is degraded by Activated Protein C.
