Animal Free Neuraminidase Purified Lyophilized from Innovative Research has been chromatographically purified from Clostridium perfringens. This is a lyophilized powder buffered in 50% (w/w) sucrose, with a contaminating proteolytic activity of 0.1% (using trypsin as the standard).
Neuraminidaze enzymes cleave glycosidic links within neruaminic acids. Bacterial Neruaminidase enzyme cleaves sialic acid residue from ganglioside-GM1, whose function is to modulate cell surface and receptor activity. This cleavage forms asialo-GM1, which allows for preferential binding of type 4 pilli attachment factors. Viral neruaminidase is a drug target for preventing the spread of influenza infection, and can be used as an antigenic determinant on influenza virus cells.
