Animal Free Alkaline Phosphatase E. Coli Purified from Innovative Research has been chromatographically purified and shows ribonuclease of less than 0.002% by weight, phosphodiesterase was not detected by assay. This is a liquid suspension buffered in 2.6M ammonium sulfate, pH 8.0.
Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) is an enzyme found throughout the body, with the highest human concentrations typically located in bone and liver cells. ALP primarily removes phosphate groups from organic compounds via hydrolysis. ALP originating from gram-negative bacteria like E. Coli is resistant to inactivation, denaturation, and degradation and is uncommonly soluable. Calf-Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase catalyzes the removal of phosphate groups from DNA strands, and can be used for applications related to DNA sub-cloning.
