Animal Free Proteinase K Purified from Innovative Research has been purified from Engyodontium album (formerly Tritirachium album). This is a concentrated frozen liquid, DNase- and RNase-free, buffered in 10mM Tris-HCl, 1mM calcium acetate, pH 7.5 containing 50% glycerol, with a concentration of 20 mg/ml.
Proteinase K is a serine protease enzyme that is able to digest keratin and other proteins. Proteinase K is able to digest proteins from nucleic acid preparations, as the enzyme is active in the presence of chemicals that typically denature proteins. It is also useful for breaking down proteins in cell lysates since it inactivates Dnase and RNase.
