Porcine Elastase Affinity Purified Lyophilized from Innovative Research has been isolated from 2X crystallized elastase which was them chromatographically purified. Trace trypsin and chymotrypsin contamination was then removed by affinity chromatography. This is a salt-free, lyophilized powder, with a concentration of 115-125 units per mg of protein. One unit will solubilize 1mg of elsatin in 20 minutes (at pH 8.8 and 37C). Homogenous on gel exclusion chromotography (G200) at pH 5.0 and 25C.
Elastase in an enzyme (specifically a serine protease) that breaks down elastin, breaks down cytokines and alpha proteinase inhibitor, and cleaves immunoglobulins A and G (IgA/IgG). Elastase is inhibited by alpha-1-antitrypsin (A1AT).
